To continue to develop our programming skills, we’ve decided to host a Beebot Olympics! This will encourage the children to develop their problem solving skills when they’re planning a game and imagining how it’s going to work, as well as develop their programming skills as they test and refine their games an ultimately use their programming skills to compete.

Last week the children planned their events all of which were ideas they developed themselves. They had access to 1 Beebot, paper, pens, PE balls and tape. This led to lots of collaboration in their groups!

This week they have set up their game and tested it to ensure that they could score each number of points. Here are some of their events:

Year 5 still need to put the finishing touches to their events.

*Update* 9th Feb!
Year 5 worked really hard this week and completed both their Computing Assessment for the half term AND finished preparing for their Beebot Olympics AND managed to have time to host it. I was very impressed! Here are some photos of their Beebots hard at working following the code which they had input using their programming skills!
