This week year 2 and 3 moved away from their head, shoulders, knees and toes sequencing and learned a new word ‘debugging’.

Firstly they were given this collection of pictures and had to sort them into the correct order to make a paper aeroplane.

Unfortunately there were 3 instructions that shouldn’t be there. If you used them, your paper aeroplane would go wrong! These were the bugs which the children had to find when they were debugging.

As soon as they felt their sequence was correct they had to test it by making their own paper aeroplane. We also talked about how everyone’s aeroplane should look the same if they followed the same algorithm.

Year 3 even recorded their algorithms as they were building their aeroplanes:

When we were finished, we got one chance to fly them before we had to go to PE!
