This week year 3 started preparing for their work after Christmas on algorithms, to do this they followed the algorithm (instructions) which Mrs Humphries had written.

An algorithm needs to be really clear and detailed because computers can’t think for themselves. If the algorithm is clear, we should all get the same result at the end. Unfortunately, Mrs H’s algorithm was not clear enough and this meant that we all had different pictures. We found this one particularly interesting:

This person that explained that the algorithm did not tell you to put the head on top of the body, or the legs on the bottom of the body and so a computer wouldn’t know where to put them! What interesting thinking!
